The preventorio is located 25 kilometers from the city of Alicante. Its construction began in the year 1865. At that time, and until 1930, the building was a hotel. The hotel had a casino, reading rooms, billiards and sports areas, among other services. This complex was created by the Count of Casa de Rojas and Marques de Bosch, I call it Hotel Miramar Winter Station and it was located near the hot springs that are in the area. In 1936 the building was acquired by the Spanish State, which turned it into a hospital destined to treat tuberculosis patients. At the end of the Civil War the hospital was abandoned.
Later, it was tried to realize projects for the rehabilitation of this impressive building, but all fell into oblivion.
Description of Hotel Miramar:
"There were large dining rooms overlooking the sea, renowned wineries and kitchens, luxury rooms, and all of them with magnificent views, richly furnished private apartments, with improved bathrooms and toilette rooms, large hall, large and small lounges, hairdressing salon , illuminated by electricity, central heating and other accessories of a first class establishment ".
When tuberculosis was finally eradicated, the building closed and in 1967 it was abandoned. In 2006 it was acquired by the President of Hercules in order to restore it and build a new spa, a luxury hotel with swimming pools, thermal baths, massages, sauna, relaxation rooms, gym ... the project has not yet been carried out.
There were more serious cases in which the patient could not be saved, at least those who were admitted there did not know if their partners were discharged or had a tragic end.
In the preventorio, it was first hand and with graphic evidence that the children allowed visits and even go out with their relatives through the surrounding pine forests. Of course, it depended on the state of improvement of the children.
There were three deaths, all of them adults and employees of the preventorio: a nurse who was incinerated in a fire that occurred in a staff room because of a brazier placed on a table stretcher; one death due to illness and another due to sunstroke.
Currently, the preventorio is in a deplorable state, where fans of the paranormal or, just out of curiosity, approach this filthy building.
The most famous legend of this building could be said to be that of the transparent-Lady.
Legend has it that a transparent lady appeared to some people reflected in the mirror that was reached when climbing the stairs that led to the first floor. some said that the transparent lady laughed and cried at the same time and others that if the lady laughed it meant that everything was fine while if her grimace was sobbing it meant that something bad was going to happen.
